The curtains of Batley Town Hall will part for song and dance troupe Songsational to perform The Best Bits.

It is their fifth annual show for the Mayor of Kirklees’ charity. The incumbent Coun Paul Kane has chosen Diabetes UK as his cause which donations will be welcomed for on the night.

The collective have plucked out some of their favourites for the show, which takes place tomorrow at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £8 and can be booked by calling performer Jane Griffin on 07845958995 or emailing her at [email protected].

On Saturday, the Batley Poets are holding Anything Goes, a session of verse in the town’s library.

Anyone is invited to turn up to the event, which goes ahead between 11am-1pm, and perform a favourite or self-penned poem.

The event is organised in support of Inter Faith Week (November 15-21) and a collection for Diabetes UK will go ahead.

Hot drinks and a slice of “diabetes-friendly” cake will be available for visitors.

Safeeyah Patel will be giving henna hand tattoos and a balloon modelling session will be held by Artifices.

Both events were organised in affiliation with community group Batley Smile.
