Girl’s terrifying assault ordeal

A TEENAGE girl was the victim of a terrifying assault as she walked along Spen Lane towards Cleckheaton on Sunday night.

The 14-year-old was attacked at around 8pm by five men in a red car and a white van as she walked home from visiting friends.

The girl was followed by the men, before being grabbed and pushed onto the bonnet of the car.

She managed to escape the men’s grasp, before trying to take refuge at a house in Spen Lane, but she was grabbed by the men again.

The girl managed to escape once more and ran back up the lane, before being grabbed for a third time.

It is thought that two motorcyclists travelling on the road disturbed the men, allowing the girl to flee to safety.

Police said the girl was unhurt but had gone through a frightening ordeal and are appealing for witnesses.

DI Andy Leonard, of Kirklees CID, said: “I would particularly like to appeal for the motorcyclists who rode onto Spen Lane before the suspects fled the scene, to contact us.”

All five men have been described as Asian, while the driver of the white van also had a white dog with him.

Police enquiries into the incident are ongoing and officers are appealing for anyone with any information to contact Dewsbury CID via 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
