Faisal Rafiq, 29, has high hopes of winning our New Business of the Year award for his company, Fortune Cookie.

The Chinese takeaway opened in April in the former Imperial pub in Bradford Road, Dewsbury, and Faisal believes it has managed to attract a new clientele to the cuisine.

He said: “A lot of people in Dewsbury eat halal meat, but I didn’t know any Chinese Takeaways that served it. Since we opened, we have had lots of custom – I’m pleased with how things are going. I believe this was a gap in the market we have filled.”

The winners will be announed at a black-tie event at Dewsbury Town Hall in October. Closing date for nominations is August 31. Visit jpeventsnorth.co.uk for info.
