Health boost at Rixonway
A Dewsbury firm is putting health first to get its employees in ship shape.
Rixonway Kitchens has collaborated with Kirklees Council’s Better Health at Work Project to promote healthy living and health and safety to its staff.
In the last six months, a series of drop-in events has seen Better Health at Work advisors run workshops on healthy eating, alcohol awareness and adult health.
Held twice a month, the sessions provide handy tips, information and advice for Rixonway workers.
Operational systems manager Mark Evans said the workshops were held during work ours to help staff take part.
He said: “The Kirklees Council healthy living initiative has proved invaluable for our employees who are able to benefit from its free advice and share ideas with colleagues on how to achieve better health both inside and outside work.”
The firm has sought feedback via an internal employee survey so staff can ask for more advice and information on certain topics.
Workers have asked for healthier vending machine options and extra training in manual handling.
The company hopes the events, provided for free by Kirklees, will reduce sickness absences and reduce work related accidents.
