The Shire Bed Company is continuing to expand its operation in the area to include a brand new head office and showroom as it celebrates 20 years in business.

The 66,000 square foot site, which once housed a traditional old Dewsbury wool dye-house, is being completely renovated.

It will be the new location for Shire’s office staff and provide a showroom area for its range of high quality beds, mattresses and divan bases.

There are also plans in the pipeline for part of the space to include a second manufacturing operation as the company continues to invest in future product development projects.

Fara Butt, sales and marketing director, said: “It’s been a very exciting few months as we have been converting the old dye-house into a very modern facility.

“We are really looking forward to opening the doors of our brand new head office and showrooms and are planning a number of exciting activities to celebrate the launch and commemorate the 20th anniversary.”

The company has been at its current location in Netherfield Road, Ravensthorpe, Dewsbury, since 2001.

In the past 12 months alone Shire has invested nearly £2.5m expanding its manufacturing facility from 30,000 square feet to over 100,000 square feet.

The recent expansion represents a demonstration of the company’s commitment to ongoing investment, supporting continuing development of its portfolio, and enabling Shire to bring new innovations to its customers.
