After the Tesco-owned Serpentine Mills site went on the market earlier this year, surveyors Walker Singleton put a guide price on the site of £2.5m.

The site, which was controversially scrapped as the site of a new store by the supermarket giants, went on the market back in June this year. Planning permission remains on the site to build a new supermarket, which increases its value.

While that site has yet to be sold, a further two have come on the market with the agents.

One of which, off St Peg Lane, is the site of the former Whiteley Works.

The 6.5 acre site adjoins onto Howard Park Community School and has a guide price of £1.75m.

The former Marsh Works, in Bradford Road is now the latest addition to the sites for sale. The building, which totals more than 54,000 square feet of floor space is on the market for £800,000 from the developer.

The total of these three sites alone, should they reach each asking price, would be £5.05m.

Senior partner of Walker Singleton David Heap said: “The site at Serpentine Road is under offer. The site at St Peg Lane has just come onto the market there is no deadline yet.”

Cleckheaton has long had a problem with empty brownfield sites in and around the town centre. Along with the three sites there is another on Horncastle Street.
