Inquest opens into death of stabbed man Peter Brocklesby

AN inquest has been opened into the death of former Ravensthorpe man Peter Brocklesby who was stabbed near his home on May 7.

The hearing at Bradford Coroner’s Court heard police were called to Brooklyn Road, in Cleckheaton, at around 12.48pm after reports that a man had been stabbed in the road.

Officers found Mr Brocklesby, 50, in the road and he was taken to Dewsbury and District Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1.30am.

A murder investigation was launched and six arrests were made in the days following the attack. 19-year-old Richard Oldroyd, of Great Pond Street, Ravensthorpe, has now been charged with murder. Det Insp Martin Hepworth confirmed that no further tests are necessary and Mr Brocklesby’s body has now been released, The inquest has been adjourned until after the trial.
