LEEDS United players new and old received a warm welcome during a question and answer session at Scholes Cricket Club, organised by the local supporters’ club.
Current players Neil Kilkenny and Leigh Bromby were joined by club legends John McClelland, who was part of Howard Wilkinson’s league winning side of 1992, and Peter Lorimer.
The evening was organised by the Spen Valley Whites Supporters’ Club, who launched their own range of leisurewear as well.
It was a homecoming for local lad Leigh, the imposing defender who has made a name for himself during this season’s ill-fated promotion push. He attended Whitcliffe Mount School and began his playing career with Liversedge FC and still lives in Spen.
Organiser Darren Holland said: “Halfway through the evening it was brought to our attention that we had an imposter in our midsts. Alan Tucker is a lifelong Burnley fan and came forward to ask his question.
“I’m sure you can imagine that he received a warm and friendly welcome from the Spen Valley Whites.”
The evening was rounded off with a pie and pea supper and opportunities for members to meet the guests and get their autographs.
