A brave mother of two from Spen who underwent a double mastectomy is baring all to raise money for a cancer charity.
Kelly Young, 38, from Cleckheaton, has stripped off for the BRCA Babes calendar to raise money for the National Hereditary Breast Cancer Helpline.
The charity supports women who have a high risk of developing the disease due to the faulty BRCA gene, something which is close to home for Kelly.
She said: “I started working with the charity six years ago when I discovered I had a high risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer.
“People say we’re brave, but I didn’t have to go through the disease. I was just lucky that I was given a warning.”
“I elected to have bilateral double mastectomies in 2009 as a preventative measure and had oophrectomy treatment earlier this year to reduce my risk of ovarian cancer.
“The calendar is a collection of 25 ladies ranging in age from 25-50, who have undergone mastectomy procedures and are happy to show it has not stopped them being sexy and glam!”
