A Kirklees charity has benefitted from a substantial cash boost thanks to the Yorkshire Freemasons.
Mencap in Kirklees, which provides support and services to people with learning difficulties, received £26,000.
The charity plans to use the money to buy a 14-seater Peugeot Box bus with a tail lift to replace its current ageing bus.
Six charities across the region received grants totalling £109,200 from the Yorkshire Freemasons at their annual Provincial Grand Lodge meeting held in Harrogate.
The event, which took place in the spa town’s Royal Hall, was attended by more than 1,200 members from lodges across Yorkshire.
David S Pratt, Provincial Grandmaster for the Province of Yorkshire West Riding, said: “It is with tremendous pleasure that we have been able to present these six wonderful charities and organisations with significant grants at our annual meeting.
“We hope that these grants allow the continuation and the enhancement of the wonderful work being done by these organisations.”
