Graham Nield, of Healey, popped the question to his partner Amanda Vickers after finding out he had all six winning numbers.

But it was not a lavish affair as the pair tied the knot at Dewsbury Register Office in Dewsbury Town Hall in front of close friends and family.

The newly-weds celebrated with a party at Dewsbury Rams stadium - the first time the rugby club had organised a wedding reception.

Graham, 55, said: “Winning the Lotto was an amazing experience but I really hit the jackpot when Amanda agreed to marry me.

“The wedding day was everything we’d hoped for and despite our millions we didn’t need a lavish venue to make it special.

“All that was important to us was that our family and friends could share our day and watch us say ‘I do’.”

The couple, who have five children between them, have been together for 10 years.

Former Batley Boys High School pupil Graham had planned to ask Amanda, 48, to marry him on several occasions but kept losing his nerve.

After discovering he had won the fortune, Graham blurted out his proposal and Amanda said yes.

Despite the winnings, the couple have no plans to splash the cash on a honeymoon.

Graham said: “We’re just going to enjoy life as newlyweds and take time to plan our future.”

Dewsbury Rams general manager Angie Burkinshaw said: “The party was fantastic and everyone really enjoyed it.

“Amanda told us she could not believe how well we had done to organise it in just three weeks.”

Dewsbury Rams bar manager and Cobbles Cafe owner David Krolak, who supplied the food, added: “We organised everything for them.

“They both said we did a great job and it was exactly how they wanted to celebrate.”

Graham bought the winning ticket from Tesco in Bradford Road, Batley.

His regular numbers 15, 25, 26, 33, 34 and 41 won him £6,676,215 on August 17.
