PARTS of the M62 near Cleckheaton will be closed this Saturday as maintainance work takes place over the weekend.
The Highways Agency has announced that essential work will be done as part of the ongoing ‘Managed Motorways’ project.
The road will close from 8pm on Saturday evening until 8am on Sunday morning between J26 at Chain Bar to J27 at Gildersome to install two overhead gantries. The road will be closed in both directions, and a clearly signed diversion route will be in place via the local road network.
A spokesman for the Highways Agency said: “The £150m scheme will cut congestion, make journey times more reliable and improve safety through the use of variable mandatory speed limits and by opening the hard shoulder as an extra running lane.”
Plans are also in place to close the motorway on evenings from October until December between J25 and J26, to enable low-noise resurfacing work to continue.
