M62 improvements underway
TALKS are underway to kickstart a multi-million pound M62 improvement scheme ahead of schedule.
The maintenance work is being carried out by the Highways Agency to reduce congestion and improve safety along a two mile stretch of the M62 around Chain Bar. The work is being funded by a 7m grant from the Government's fiscal stimulus package.
The work began this morning (Monday) and is expected to last until the end of March.
Steve Wright, Highways Agency project manager, said: "This is the first stage of preparatory work being carried out ahead of the main construction work for the Managed Motorways scheme."
