Overweight David Stott, who has a beard and wears glasses, assumed the persona so he could trick under-age boys into sending him indecent images of themselves, a court heard.

But the 28-year-old’s offending came to light after the mother of a 14-year-old schoolboy found a message requesting a naked photograph of her son.

Prosecutor Simon Waley told Bradford Crown Court that the request and other communications with the boy were put in such a way as to give the impression that the person was a female nurse who wanted to exchange sexual photographs.

The court heard that after Stott sent the boy an image of a topless woman purporting to be the nurse the youngster sent a topless photo of himself in return.

The court heard that the police investigation into Stott’s activities began in 2011, but the inquiry was protracted because he had used false details to set up the account.

Mr Waley said police eventually visited Stott’s home in White Hart Fold, Todmorden, at the end of 2011 and seized computer equipment from the property.

Back in November 2006 Stott was given a five-months custodial sentence, suspended for two years, for downloading child porn and he was made the subject of a five-year sexual offences prevention order.

Following his arrest in 2011 his computer was examined and police found more than 70 indecent images of children as well two movies depicting sexual acts between young boys.

Stott, who is now unemployed, admitted one offence of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and 12 charges relating to his possession of the child porn images and videos.

Judge Peter Benson jailed him for a total of 37 months and imposed a new sexual offences prevention order which will now run indefinitely.

The new order includes a ban on accessing social networking sites.

Judge Benson noted that Stott had accepted that he had targeted more than one boy with requests to expose their body to him while he was using the persona of a female nurse.

“You incited him essentially to send you photographs of him naked and in order to entice him to do that you sent an image of a topless female you obtained from the internet saying that was a picture of you,” said Judge Benson.

The judge told Stott that his offending was aggravated by his previous conviction and the fact that he was subject to a sexual offence prevention order which he had blatantly defied.

Stott will now have to register as a sex offender with the police for the rest of his life following his release from prison.
