Man falls 15 feet at building site

A man suffered suspected spinal injuries after falling 15 feet on a building site in Savile Town today.

Fire crews arrived from Cleckheaton at 1.30pm to help save a 44-year-old man who had fallen onto some scaffolding in Caledonian Road, Savile Town.

The man was said to be conscious, but had suffered a broken wrist, and could not make his own way down.

“He was talking to us and breathing,” said Watch Commander Darren Haley. “The injuries aren’t thought to be life-threatening but he had just fallen from 15 feet, and had suspected spinal injuries, so he had to be taken to hospital.”

The man, who was working on the site, was taken to Pinderfields Hospital.
