A FAMILY man took his own life after being upset at ‘serious allegations’ that had been levelled at him.
Michael Leadbeater, who was 53, hanged himself from a tree opposite Gomersal Lane during the early hours of September 19.
The father-of-two’s body was found by a dog walker.
His family had reported him missing the previous night.
The body of Mr Leadbeater, who was a welder, was found at around 8.30am the following morning.
A statement by PC Stacey Binns was read to the court detailing the events leading up to Mr Leadbeater’s death.
She said that his wife Deborah had received two text messages from her husband that led her to believe he was going to harm himself.
PC Binns said: “They gave her the impression that he was going to harm himself after he was concerned that he was going to be arrested over serious allegations from the night before.”
Assistant deputy coroner Tim Ratcliffe said: “I am satisfied that Michael’s state of mind was such that as a result of information that came to him the previous day that he wished to take his own life.”
He ruled the cause of death was asphyxiation.
