Man jailed for sex offences against girls aged nine and 14

Jamal Mohammed Raheem-ul-Nasir, 31, of Firthcliffe Grove, Liversedge was sentenced to terms of four years and three years respectively for offences carried out when his victims were aged nine and 14.

Leeds Crown Court heard that Raheem-ul-Nasir committed the offences in 2010 and 2011 when the girls came to his house in Willow Street, in the Girlington area of Bradford.

He was found guilty of four counts of sexual activity with a child and two counts of the sexual assault of a child.

He was also made the subject of a Sexual Offenders Prevention Order, to remain in place until further notice.

Det Con Helen Riley, of the Bradford District Safeguarding Unit, said: “Raheem-Ul-Nasir took advantage of his victims’ young ages and vulnerability to carry out these attacks over a period of time.

“I would like to thank them for coming forward and reporting his crimes to the police, and hope that the sentence passed down today will give them some comfort.

“I also hope it will encourage other victims of sexual offences to engage with our specially trained officers, who will sensitively and thoroughly investigate all reports with the aim of securing convictions against offenders.”

Mark Burns-Williamson, West Yorkshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, said: “I want victims and witnesses, in particular those who are most vulnerable, to always come first.

“Any young person who has been a victim or a witness of this sexual exploitation should have the confidence to come forward, trust that their voice will be heard and be justified in believing that the responsible authorities will make sure they and others are supported and kept safe.
