He then tried to run off but the men chased him down, grabbed him and took cash from his pockets, as well as his mobile phone, which was on the floor.

This happened at one of the side entrances, in the middle of the park.

At the time of the incident a man was parked nearby in a white car. He got out of the car but was told to get back inside.

The victim suffered minor injuries.

DC Mark Willetts, from Huddersfield CID, said: “I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident to get in contact, and the man in the white car in particular as he may be able to provide vital information about what happened.

“Anyone who has information should contact Huddersfield CID on 101 or CrimeStoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.”
