PC Nicole Senior from the Kirklees Robbery Team, said: “The incident occurred in the early hours of yesterday morning, at around 4.45am as the 24-year-old local man was walking on Beck Lane, Heckmondwike when he heard a man call for help from a nearby alleyway.

“As the victim went to man’s aid he was pulled to the floor by the suspect sustaining injuries to his head and hands. At that point a second male suspect also appeared and held the victim down while the victim had his pockets searched with the suspects stealing cash.

“Fortunately the victim was not seriously injured in the assault but he has been left badly shaken by what took place and in particular the underhand way in which his offer of help was used as a means to rob him.”

The first suspect is described as a black, possibly Nigerian male, with short, black hair and aged in his early 20s with a stocky build. He was wearing a scarf around the bottom half of his face along with a light coloured top and dark coloured bottoms.

The second suspect is thought to be a white male with a heavy build and a Yorkshire accent. He was also wearing a light coloured top and grey bottoms.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Senior at Huddersfield CID via 101.
