Man suffers facial injuries in pub assault

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man suffered facial injuries in an assault in Birstall.

The incident happened between 11.30pm on Saturday May 7 and 12.30am on Sunday May 8 at the Old Wine and Spirit Public House on Huddersfield Road.

Two men assaulted a 38-year-old man at the pub, who suffered serious facial injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Detective Constable Oliver Coates, at Kirklees CID, said: “This was a violent assault and we are appealing to members of the public who were at the pub that evening who may have witnessed this incident.
