Masked burglars strike family home in Dewsbury

Detectives in Kirklees are appealing for information following a burglary in Ravensthorpe yesterday evening (Wednesday).

Police said four to five balaclava-clad men, at least one armed with a weapon broke into a property in Ravens Crescent between 6.15pm and around 6.30pm.

Two adults and a number of children were in the address at the time but no violence was used against them and, after a search of the property, the offenders appear to have left empty-handed.

Detective Inspector Ian Thornes, of Kirklees CID, said: “We are carrying out a number of enquiries to establish whether there is any link between this latest burglary and other similar offences in Batley and Dewsbury over recent days.

“From initial enquiries it would appear that at least one of the men was armed with a weapon and we are keen to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity who may have seen these men who can provide any further information.

“The suspects are also believed to have left the scene in a waiting grey Audi estate car and we would be interested in speaking to anyone who believes they have seen this vehicle in the area.

“Anyone with information is asked to call Kirklees District CID via 101 or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
