Masked raider robs travel agent

Police are hunting a thug who threatened two females with a knife in Cleckheaton last week.

Dewsbury CID would like to speak to anyone who has information or who witnessed the incident which took place between 4.50pm and 5pm at a travel agents on Bradford Road, Cleckheaton on Thursday February 27.

It took place after a man, wearing a balaclava entered the shop, demanded cash and threatened the two female staff with a knife.

He then fled a few moments later with cash.

Police said neither of the women were hurt by the intruder but were shaken by the experience.

The suspect was described as white and wearing grey trousers, a black top and a balaclava.

Detective Inspector Ian Thornes of Kirklees CID, said: “We are investigating this incident today and carrying out a number of enquiries in the local area. Anyone who saw a man behaving suspiciously outside the travel agents shortly beforehand, a man fitting the description fleeing the scene, or has any information about the incident is asked to contact Dewsbury CID on 101.

“Information can also be passed on, anonymously, to CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111.”
