Medical firm expands after£75,000 boost

Essential Healthcare Solutions, now based in Birstall, was introduced last year to Kirklees Council’s specialist business team, which helped the firm make the move to its new purpose-built premises.

The new site, based on the plot of the former Wilkinson’s Potato Farm, will feature an 18,500sqft warehouse, offices and live simulation training facility when completed.

Coun Peter McBride, Kirklees Cabinet lead member for investment and housing, said: “The council is committed to doing all we can to help our businesses thrive and grow.

“One of the most important things we can do is to make sure businesses have the right information and support to make the most of funding opportunities within the region.

“And as Essential has shown, new premises and business growth lead to more jobs, and it is this type of enterprising activity which is supporting our growing and thriving economy here in Kirklees.”

Since acquiring the new site, Essential has added eight new members of staff to its team and plans to launch the new training facility early next year.

Managing director Thomas Owens said: “We are incredibly grateful to Kirklees Council and especially to Ramesh Bains, senior business development officer, who helped us in progressing our relocation and expansion.

“Before Ramesh contacted us, we were unaware of the business support network which is available and so the advice and guidance provided have been invaluable.

“The council helped facilitate our move and we could not have done it without them.

“I would definitely encourage other businesses to look into the support and funding available in the region.”
