A PHOTOGRAPHER from Spen has snapped up a national award.
Mike Travers, from Liversedge, was the overall winner of the Pentax-sponsored online Meet Britain competition.
Mike won the award for a special Jubilee-themed photograph exhibited at the event, which was held in the Design Museum, central London.
He was awarded a £1,000 cheque and said: “It is certainly the biggest prize I have ever won in 30 years of entering these competitions, and it was a really pleasant surprise!”
The event was attended by Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding and BBC DJ Reggie Yates.
He added: “It was very pleasant meeting Reggie Yates and Sarah Harding – they are both champions of photography, and it’s good for photography to have famous people endorsing it.”
Mike, who works in Bradford Camera Exchange, has also had a picture accepted into the 1650 Gallery in Los Angeles.
