Engineering specialists BarhaleWSP have been working since July 2014 to construct a large underground storage tank in the grounds of the car park behind the Cooperative supermarket in Old Bank Road.

The tank is 10.5 metres in diameter and 6 metres deep and capable of holding more than 400,000 litres of storm water in wet weather.

Construction of the tank was completed last year and some pipes were laid down the road.

After months of final mechanical and electrical connection works, 14 properties are now protected from sewer flooding and the risk of the homes experiencing internal sewer flooding is now reduced.
