The first ever Tack Up and Go Horse and Pony show was held in Mirfield Showground on Sunday.

Organised by Mirfield Horse and Pony Society, it gave riders the chance to compete locally instead of having to travel long distances.

Competition manager Sally Crockford said: “We had a good amount of entries throughout the day in most of the classes, some of which were competing in their first ever show.

“All the riders, horses and ponies looked spectacular with them all making a fantastic effort to look smart.

“Most had spent hours making their horses and ponies sparkling clean.”

As well as the horse and pony show, visitors enjoyed a tombola and raffle in aid of Kirkwood Hospice. The show was supported by stalls from Parkinhall Equestrian, the Original Mountie, Forever Living Products and CVCS Valeting Services.
