A Mirfield house has been completely gutted following a fire yesterday evening (Sunday).

Fire crews from Rastrick, Dewsbury, Cleckheaton and Mirfield were called to West Royd Park at around 6pm.

A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “When we arrived, it was well alight, it had broken through the roof and the property became 100 per cent involved.

“The house has been completely gutted.”

There was nobody in the property at the time and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Firefighters used aerial platforms and three large jets to tackle the blaze and cleared the scene by 10pm.
