Mirfield Stags unveil kit to pay homage to Sir Patrick Stewart

Mirfield Stags have unveiled the club’s all-new alternate playing jersey, specially commissioned to pay homage to one of the town’s proudest sons.

The Stags’ 2015-16 away strip features a design similar to that worn by local hero Sir Patrick Stewart, in his time as Star Trek’s Jean-Luc Picard.

It features the branding of a whole host of the club’s new and current partners, including main sponsor Brook’s Delicatessen, Gavin Rhodes Landscapes, KS Fox, Steve Pollard Roofing & Building, GHE Stansfield, Ex-Fleet Van Hire, Howarth’s Garage and LAW Distribution.

A completely bespoke design, created to provide a twist on the popular Star Trek classic by Mirfield’s official kit supplier ISC Teamwear, the attire includes maroon, black and a hint of gold.

Stags managing director Ryan Sparks said: “We are really pleased with the finished product.

“Sir Patrick Stewart is quite possibly the biggest name to have ever come out of Mirfield and we are proud to pay tribute to him in this manner.

“This is a simply fantastic playing strip and it looks great on the players.”

The kit will be worn by the Stags’ open-age sides throughout their time in the Pennine League and winter-based cup competitions, right up until the end of April.
