The money was raised from the sale of a quiz compiled by Millie House and from a friendly bowling competition and raffles sales supported by the club bowlers and friends.

The Kirklees group is a befriending scheme where volunteers help the visually impaired in the community with shopping and social activities and also runs exercise classes, swim sessions and ten pin bowling.

Members and volunteers have set up a coffee and activity group called Simba and Friends and arrange regular coffee mornings at various Kirklees venues.
