A Spen Valley Young Leader has been appointed to the National Scout Committee.

Victoria Caine will represent West Yorkshire County Scouts after being elected at the county’s annual meeting.

Her first job in the role involved attended the county conference in Bradford when she gave a presentation on Youth Involvement for the Vision 2018 Project.

She has been actively involved in the Birkenshaw Scout Group all her life, where her mother, Gillian, is Group Scout Leader.

When she was 14 she became a young leader there as part of her Duke of Edinburgh Award. Before that she had been a Guide and achieved her Queen’s Scout and Queen’s Guide awards as well as being in the Spen Valley Scout and Guide Gang Show.

Victoria recently graduated from Manchester University and is now doing a postgraduate course in music.
