Network hosts Royal National Institute of Blind People

Kirklees Visual Impairment Network hosted the quarterly Royal National Institute of Blind People’s Regional Forum.

Around 50 members from across the district and 20 aids, including people from Cleckheaton and Liversedge, attended the event at the Yorkshire Children’s Centre in Huddersfield.

They were able to participate in a range of workshops during the day, learning how blind and visually impaired people can carry out useful daily tasks and to be more independent, according to vice chairman Martin Eatherley.

RNIB chief executive Lesley Anne Alexander attended the event and answered audience questions.

Mr Eatherley said: “It was very successful. The staff and even the CEO, Lesley Anne Alexander, said it was the most popular forum she’d ever seen, and the most friendly.”
