The Creative Kirklees website is a Kirklees Council project to bring creative people and audiences together through promotion and interaction.

Creative communities operational manager at the council, Kath Davies, said the project was trying to create a better way of dealing with culture.

She said: “The website is the first of its kind in the north.

“It’s a great way to raise the profile of culture in Kirklees.”

The website includes a directory of artists, creative people, organisations and businesses by expertise and location.

The council hopes the directory will help artists to find venues and organisations to find people.

It currently has 104 registered profiles, with a mixture of amateur and professional people.

The site is intended to be a jumping-off point for further events and exhibitions.

Users can add to their own events to the website’s new feed.

The website can found at www.creativekirklees.com.
