The CCG has awarded the contract for the new service to Curo Health Ltd, a federation of local GP practices.

Appointments will take place at Dewsbury Health Centre and will be available between 6.30pm and 9.30pm each weekday. There will be additional slots available on Saturdays between 9am and 4pm and Sundays between 9am and 1pm.

The service will be offering pre-bookable appointments which can be booked through the patient’s own GP practice or by calling NHS 111.

Dr David Kelly, local GP and Chair of NHS North Kirklees CCG said: “We all lead busy lives and this new service will benefit patients as it will improve access and ensure that people can get the right care at a time that suits them, especially for those with work or other day-time commitments.”

Approximately 191,600 people will be able to take advantage of the new scheme, all of whom are served by the North Kirklees CCG, which is made up of 27 GP practices in the region.

Anyone unsure of whether they are eligible should seek advice from their GP.

Dr Stuart Lawson, Chair of Curo Health Ltd said: “The service will provide better access to care for patients when their practices are closed.

“Delivering the service across the whole of the North Kirklees district allows for a comprehensive, consistent, resilient and efficient service, allowing access at more convenient times for working people.”
