TaxAssist Accountants, based in Heckmondwike and Mirfield, said businesses should make the most of the changes announced in Chancellor George Osborne’s Budget.

David Cramp, of TaxAssist Accountants in Mirfield, said: “Small businesses should ensure they do not get caught out by the changes. The cost of employing people came out as the top issue facing businesses in a recent survey.”

Zahid Khan, of TaxAssist Accountants in Heckmondwike, added: “While the latest budget didn’t provide a silver bullet for this issue, there are new tax breaks and changes from April which small business owners need to be aware of and in some cases could help them to make those vital recruitment decisions.”

The key changes include most businesses being entitled to a £2,000 Employment Allowance per year towards their employer National Insurance contributions bill and the abolition of Statutory Sick Pay Recovery.

There are also changes to workplace pensions and the personal allowance and tax code.
