Oakenshaw couple Lisa Anderson, 24, and her partner David Bean, 35, were woken up in the early hours of last Thursday morning by three men who burst into their bedroom armed with hammers and screwdrivers.

The trio demanded keys to the couple’s two cars and, after a fifteen-minute stand-off, moved into the three-year-old’s room, shouting: “She doesn’t get hurt of you give us what we want”.

Having found the keys in their bedroom, the couple handed them over and the thugs made off in the stolen cars, a grey Audi RS3 and a silver Mercedes CLS.

“It was terrifying,” Lisa said, “they burst into the bedroom and just started shouting ‘where are the keys?’

“We were disorientated and genuinely didn’t know where they were. We panicked and that instinct kicked in, to protect your children.

“I’m fifteen weeks pregnant so I was trying to stay out of their way and then they went into my daughter’s bedroom. It was just awful.

No injuries were sustained by the family, but Lisa said her daughter is extremely shaken up by the incident: “One minute she’s just like a normal three-year-old, the next she’s really quiet. She just doesn’t understand.

“She gets scared when she goes to bed. The other night she said ‘you don’t keep me safe, mummy’. It’s just a horrible thing to have to deal with.”

The suspects were described as wearing dark clothing with face masks and baseball caps.

Detective Inspector Shaf Rehman of Kirklees CID, said: “Initial enquiries are ongoing into what was clearly a very frightening incident for the victims and we are conducting a number of enquiries today.
