Don’t take it off OAPs

I AM writing about the suggestion of stopping pensioners’ bus passes. (think tank Social Market Foundation last week claimed the £1billion annual cost of OAP bus travel and £2billion cost of the winter fuel allowance does nothing to improve the economy and should be cut.)

Well I hope not, as the passes are a lifeline to a lot of pensioners, even more so now we have to travel further to the hospital.

I have to get three buses to Pinderfeields each way.

Stopping heating allowances would mean it was the lowest paid you were targetting. I am sure you could save money some other way without taking it off pensions. So please think again.

Come on people, stand up for yourseves, don’t let them take our passes, write to the paper, as I have, don’t leave it too late.
