Overcoming the odds for a better park
The process to refill the lake was fraught with trouble but all the hard work has paid off and the park now boasts a sparkling lake and an “outstanding” accolade from the Yorkshire In Bloom awards for its wildflower garden.
Friends of Crow Nest Park member Jennifer Devlin said: “We are absolutely delighted, and we are particularly delighted for Brenda Rochell who has completed 10 years of work with us, putting in nearly 8,000 hours.

The Friends of Crow Nest Park are currently looking at ways to raise £4,000 for a pump that will keep the lake clean and circulated, while doubling as a water feature.
Jennifer said: “We know where some of the money will come from but we are not sure about the rest.
“We might have to walk around shaking a tin.”
