Aaron Livsey and Greg Horsfall will be riding mototaxis – that’s a motorcycle with a sofa on the back – across Peru.

They are looking for sponsorship to help them raise £1,000 for environmental charity Cool Earth and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Greg, 23, who has recently completed treatment for skin cancer, said: “I was not in a terrible position with my cancer, but Macmillan were just there to help me to get my head around it.”

Aaron, 22, who just moved to Brighouse from his mum’s house in Upper Hopton, said: “You can’t fault them. It’s a very human charity.”

The pair met at Heckmondwike Grammar School and the Mototaxi Junket will be the second challenge they have done with extreme charity organisers Adventurists.

In 2011, the duo were joined by their friend Tom Somers as they drove from Chichester to Mongolia in a Skoda Fabia.

Their next challenge takes place in October, and will see them travel 3,500km through Peru in two weeks.

Greg, who lives in London but has previously lived in Heckmondwike and Dewsbury, said: “When we got to the finish line in Mongolia, we were a bit pumped up, so it was, ‘What’s next?’”

The pair will organise fundraising events before they go to Peru, but for the trip itself, they’ll be going with the flow.

“We’ve got a map, but it’s not that detailed, which is good,” Greg said.

“The nerves will come,” Aaron admitted, “but knowing that we made it through Mongolia helps!”

The lads have called their fundraising mission ‘Fighting Trousers’, after a song by self-styled ‘chap-hop’ musician Professor Elemental.

And since this is their second one, in a nod to the Naked Gun films, it’s been named ‘Fighting Trousers 2 1/2: The Smell of Burnt Clutch’.
