Playgroup gets the thumbs up from Ofsted

Strong partnerships, continuity of care and learning sign language - these are all things that have been praised by Ofsted inspectors after visiting a Liversedge playgroup.

Norristhorpe Playgroup, which operates from the United Reform Church, is celebrating their most recent inspection, which saw them being rated as ‘Good’ throughout.

The report says the playgroup, which has eight members of staff, has “strong partnerships with other professionals to share appropriate information about children and support continuity of care and learning.”

Inspectors noted how children enjoy leading their own play and exploring.

It also reported how those children learning English as an additional language are supported in a variety of ways, including sign language.

As expected, children’s well-being is given priority and the report also states that “their achievements are recognised and shared.

“They make strong friendships and are very well prepared for school.”

It praised how staff support children’s developing independence and noted that all the children are “progressing well in all areas of learning given their individual starting points.”

The report said : “Children develop a wide range of skills which helps to contribute to them being well prepared for their future learning, including school.”
