Police appeal after breakfast time attempted robbery in Batley

A would-be robber snuck into a home at breakfast time and demanded cash from a resident in Batley.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the confrontation in Tynedale Walk at 9.30am on Wednesday October 1.

The culprit entered the living room and made the demands several times from a man eating breakfast.

Another resident heard and went into the room, where the man stood up and approached the intruder, who fled from the house and ran away down a ginnel at the end of the street.

The suspect is described as white, 20 to 25-years-old, of medium build and 5ft 8in to 5ft 9in tall.

He has short brown hair which is shaved at the sides, was wearing a light grey hoodie with a Nike logo on the chest and had black gloves on.

Andrew Clayton of Kirklees CID said: “If anyone has any information about this attempted robbery or saw the suspect in the area at the time in question, please contact Kirklees CID on 101.”
