Police crash wedding day

POLICE gatecrashed a couple’s big day to arrest a wanted teenager after a tip-off on a social networking website.

Plain-clothes officers arrested the 16-year old as he attended a wedding at Dewsbury Register Office last Friday afternoon.

They had read on Facebook that the teen, wanted on warrant for burglary, would be a guest at the ceremony.

Register office staff didn’t realise the police were in the building until the arrest had been made.

The 16-year-old, who was originally from Batley but now lives in Thornhill, has been remanded in custody.

The arrest was part of an operation led by Kirklees police’s Integrated Offender Management Team and resulted in two more arrests for non-payment of fines over the weekend.
