Last week Det Con Nick Doyle and Det Con Shaun Lewis donated £3,000 of the total they have raised to the Hollybank Trust in Mirfield.

The officers, who are both based in Dewsbury, set out with a mission last year to raise £5,000 for local charities.

Since then they have completed the National Three Peaks Challenge, done the Yorkshire equivalent twice, run the Manchester Marathon, cycled coast-to-coast, sky-dived, and organised football matches, a beer festival and a black tie dinner.

Hollybank fundraiser Suzanne Barton said: “They have proved that they can cope equally well in a dinner jacket, jumpsuit and cycling gear.

“This is a tremendous achievement for two busy people and we are so happy to accept this cheque from them.

“The money raised will go towards our new children’s accommodation which is really starting to take shape.”

Last week Det Con Doyle and Det Con Lewis had a look around the new children’s accommodation, Orchard Court, which is being built Hollybank’s Roe Head site in Far Common Road.

The pair are planning more fundraising for 2013. DC Doyle said: “This year I am looking forward to doing the Great Yorkshire Bike Ride for Hollybank in June but we are also doing various other runs and challenges.

“The one I am dreading is the Six Peaks Challenge – the National and Yorkshire Three Peaks back to back in 36 hours.”

The are also raising money for the Richard Ford Trust, a charity they set up for a colleague who has locked-in syndrome resulting from a stroke.
