Police are appealing to the public for help in locating a man who was left red-faced after attempting to steal a woman’s handbag.

The incident happened at around 10pm last night (Saturday) on Carr House Gate when the lone female was approached by the man.

When he tried to steal her handbag, she sprayed him in the face with a defence spray, which leaves a red dye on the skin for up to a week, before he ran off.

The male is described as being white, approximately 5’7 tall, slim build, late teens to early twenties, short dark hair, very distinctive thin well manicured eyebrows, clean shaven and wearing a blue short sleeved top and jeans.
