Praise for Mirfield fire station crew
Crew at the town’s fire station have been presented with a District Commander’s Letter of Appreciation for the role they play in helping the local community.
The 15 firefighters, already well-known for their fundraising zeal, received the Letter from Kirklees district commander Keith Robinson and town and Kirklees councillor Martyn Bolt (Con) at a special presentation at the station.

Hide AdThe crew members work on a retained basis and all community efforts are done in their spare time.
They organise a wide variety of fundraisers such as a charity car wash, annual bonfire, Christmas party and building a Santa’s grotto.
Watch manager Neil Dyson said all the team was proud to have been recognised for its efforts.
“They put in an awful lot of hard work in their spare time – all through a deep sense of community,” he said.
“So it’s really good to get this letter of appreciation.”
Retained firefighters are on call from home or other employment to answer 999 calls.
