Queen Street’s right royal do

A SMALL group of people made a lot of effort to provide a great day out for local residents to celebrate the Royal Wedding.

A hundred and fifty guests attended the party at Queen Street in Gomersal.

Attractions included a bouncy castle, a children’s entertainer, and music from the West Yorkshire Fire Service Pipe Band.

Guests watched the wedding ceremony on a large screen TV and paper hankies were available for anyone shedding a tear of happiness.

The Mayor of Kirklees Coun Andrew Palfreeman joined residents for a meal and a drink toasting the royal newlyweds.

Afterwards he mingled and chatted with the guests and later he judged the fancy dress competition and drew the winning tickets for the prize draw – he even got to meet Britannia herself.

The partygoers thank Leilah Nolan, Audrey Pinder, Heather Hartley, Aubrey and Brenda Denning, Carol Nolan and all who put in so much time and effort to make it such a great day.

Profits went to the charity Save the Children.
