Robbers armed with handgun target man in Ravensthorpe home

Two men, armed with what is believed to be a handgun and a hammer, are being hunted by police after a robbery at a house in Ravensthorpe.

The robbery happened at around 9.45pm on Wednesday when two men entered the home of a 40-year-old man in Queen Street through an unlocked door.

The men, one armed with a hammer and the other carrying what is believed to be a handgun, made demands before leaving with the victim’s mobile phone and wallet.

The victim was not injured.

The first man is described as white, around 5ft 6ins tall, of slim build and was wearing a hooded top, a plastic mask or brown insulation tape across his face and gloves.

The second man is described as white, aged in his mid to late 20s, around 5ft 10ins tall, with blond hair. He was wearing a grey and black hooded top and had a tattoo on his right forearm which is described as being ‘old English letters’.

Det Con Andy Clayton, of Kirklees Robbery Team, said: “We are treating this as a targeted attack and there is no suggestion of any wider risk to the local community in Ravensthorpe.

“However, any incident of this nature is taken extremely seriously and we have been making a number of enquiries in the area to try and identify the two men involved.

“Anyone who was in the area who saw anyone acting suspiciously, such as putting on a facial covering or running away from the scene, is asked to call the Kirklees Robbery Team on 101. Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
