Robbers armed with knife and hammer threaten man in street

Police are appealing for information after a man was robbed of his mobile phone in Dewsbury Moor on Monday (December 14).

The 21-year-old victim was walking along School Lane at around 11.30pm when he was approached by two men, one armed with a claw hammer and the other with a knife. They made demands for property and the victim has handed over his phone.

The first suspect is described as white, aged in his late 20s to early 30s, between 5ft 11ins to 6ft tall, of average build with short, brushed down, dark hair. He was wearing a dark coloured tracksuit.

The second suspect is described as black, aged in his late 20s to early 30s, of chubby build, between 5ft 9ins to 5ft 10ins tall with short, dark hair.

Detective Constable Richard Brooke, of Kirklees Robbery Team, said: “These men have both been armed with weapons and, while not physically harming the victim, have put him in fear for his safety.

“We would urge anyone who has witnessed this offence or who has information about the men involved to please call Kirklees Robbery team via 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
