Robbers attack pensioner in Batley home and steal cash and jewellery

A gang of robbers broke into a pensioner’s home, assaulted her and made off with cash and jewellery.

The three men went to the 76-year-old woman’s home on Purlwell Lane, Batley, at about 3pm on Tuesday.

They asked her for the keys to the car parked on the driveway.

When she refused, the men kicked down the door and assaulted her.

They then made off with cash and jewellery in a grey coloured Range Rover.

The first suspect is white, in his early 20s and around 5ft 5in tall.

He is of medium build with brownish coloured medium length hair. He was clean shaven and had a wide face.

The second suspect is white, in his late 40s, around 6ft tall and of heavy build.

The third suspect is white, in his mid-20s, around 5ft 8in tall and of medium build.

Det Con Mark Willetts, of Kirklees CID, said: “Fortunately the woman was not seriously injured following this incident.

“However it has clearly been a very upsetting event and we need to identify those responsible.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have seen the suspects or the vehicle to come forward to the police.”
