Fundraising by members of Roberttown Community Centre really paid off when the group unveiled its new defibrillator.
Fundraising coordinator Richard Bamforth, from the centre in Church Lane, and other members arranged a variety of events over the weeks and months to pay for the machine, which was officially opened by cycling legend Brian Robinson, the first British cyclist to win a stage of the Tour de France.
Richard thanked staff at Tesco in Cleckheaton, Heckmondwike and District Rotary Club and everyone who helped pay for or donated to the cause through coffee mornings, community bike rides and Roberttown’s beer festival.
And the village is gearing up for the next instalment of Tour de Roberttown to welcome in this year’s Tour de Yorkshire.
The 2.7 mile family ride around the village will take place Saturday April 11, at 1.45pm. Entry is free.
