Rugby game appeal

POLICE have been called in to investigate an incident during a rugby game which left a player with severe facial injuries.

The off-the-ball incident is alleged to have happened in a game between Cleckheaton and Malton and Norton rugby clubs on April 21, and police have this week issued an appeal for witnesses.

A player from the Malton and Norton team suffered a broken eye socket which required surgery to repair, and severe concussion.

Coaches and players for both teams did not see the incident at the Cleckheaton rugby ground, but police are hoping to hear from members of the crowd.
